Sandhu sinks 15‑footer to clinch TATA Open and record seventh title of dream season

Yuvraj Sandhu capped a record-breaking season in style, sealing his seventh title of 2025 with a one-shot victory at the INR 2 crore TATA Open, the PGTI’s season finale played across Jamshedpur’s Beldih and Golmuri courses.

The 28-year-old Chandigarh golfer (67-64-68-65) fired a composed six-under 65, holing a 15‑footer for birdie on the 18th to finish at 20-under 264 — enough to edge 21-year-old Shubham Jaglan (68-66-65-66) by one. The win not only extended Sandhu’s record for most titles in a single PGTI season to seven but also confirmed his DP World Tour status for 2026 following his Order of Merit victory.

Sandhu’s final day featured birdies on the first two holes and two more by the turn. Despite a couple of back-nine bogeys, his precision ball-striking and assured putting carried him home. “I just wanted to give that last putt enough pace, as I’d left a few short this week,” he said. “The line and speed were perfect. This season has been my best yet — it’s still sinking in.”

Jaglan, who recently earned full Asian Tour playing rights for 2026, stayed neck and neck with Sandhu before being pipped by the champion’s closing birdie. Khalin Joshi and Veer Ahlawat shared third at 14-under, with N. Thangaraja in fifth.

With the ₹30‑lakh winner’s cheque, Sandhu’s season earnings swelled to an unprecedented ₹1.91 crore, eclipsing the previous record of ₹1.56 crore set by Veer Ahlawat in 2024.

Seventeen-year-old rookie Manoj S was named PGTI Emerging Player of the Year after earning ₹37.2 lakh and seven top‑10 finishes, closing at tied 12th in Jamshedpur and 21st on the rankings.
