Theegala posts back-to-back Top-10s as Rose wins Farmers by seven

Sahith Theegala continued his strong start to the season with a second straight Top-10 finish, closing with a six-under 66 to tie for seventh at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

The Indian-American finished at 14-under 274, following last week’s tied-eighth at the American Express. His final round included seven birdies and just one bogey, highlighted by a run of four straight birdies from the seventh through the 10th.

Theegala added another birdie on the 17th and will carry momentum into next week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Indo-Canadian Sudarshan Yellamaraju closed with a 72 to finish tied 56th, while Akshay Bhatia missed the cut.

At the top, Justin Rose delivered a dominant performance, completing a wire-to-wire victory with a closing two-under 70 to finish at 23-under 265. The 45-year-old won by seven shots, breaking Tiger Woods’ tournament scoring record set in 1999.

Rose’s rounds of 62-65-69-70 also made him the first wire-to-wire winner at Torrey Pines in 71 years, since Tommy Bolt in 1955, and marked his 13th career PGA TOUR title — and his second at the venue after his 2019 win.

Si Woo Kim, Ryo Hisatsune and Pierceson Coody shared second place, well behind the runaway leader.

Brooks Koepka closed with a 70 in his PGA TOUR return and received a warm reception from fans late in the round.

Rose’s victory also lifted him to World No. 3, underlining a remarkable late-career surge for the former U.S. Open champion.
